Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đurić expressed disbelief and indignation over the incident that took place in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, at about 6 pm today, when a seventeen-year-old N.S. was stabbed in the chest. The Serbian underage youth was assaulted by the Albanians of the same age, near the bridge over the Ibar River in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica. The attackers came from the southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, and fled in that direction after the assault.
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đurić strongly condemns this mindless knife assault on a seventeen-year-old Serbian youth.
"The crime was carried out on a national basis, near the place that should be a symbol of peace and literally a bridge to reconciliation and unity, and this is both disturbing and totally discouraging. On the eve of the biggest Christian holiday, Easter, the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija again receive signals echoing the bad and not so distant times", Đurić said.
"The assault on the Serbian underage youth has upset everyone in Northern Kosovska Mitrovica and also all of us who are working hard to ensure peace, tolerance and the safe life for all citizens in the province," Đurić said.
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đurić called the provincial authorities and relevant representatives of international community to urgently find and punish perpetrators of this perfidious assault. Only then would we be able to hope that the efforts invested by the Government of the Republic of Serbia for better and safer life in Kosovo-Metohija have not been in vain.
