Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đurić stated today that the Serbian government managed to ensure for our citizens in Kosovo and Metohija to be exempted from paying vehicle insurance at administrative crossings, thus making a small, albeit significant progress, towards visible improvement in the quality of their lives.
“This seemingly small step in this process is vastly important for all citizens in the province who will be able to travel in the future not only with less costs, but also with more dignity. Citizens will be able to cross the administrative line with Kosovo and Metohija in both directions without paying any vehicle insurance charges, but also without frustration over several kilometers long lines at administrative crossings,“ Đurić stated.
“Reaching the agreement on one, in political sense, potentially non-extensive, but important and practical life issue for citizens, should be a model for future practice in the Belgrade-Priština dialogue, since this demonstrated that a mutually reachable solution can be made only when both sides have good faith and without attempts at political misuse and disrespect of the principle on status neutral dialogue”.
It was agreed in Brussels today that the implementation of the memorandum on vehicle insurance will come into effect on August 12, that is, between following Tuesday and Wednesday at midnight.
