The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djurić, stated today that we will forever remember March 24 and that this is the best way to respond to all evil and injustice inflicted upon citizens.
In Kosovska Mitrovica, at the academy “Serbia, remember!”, on the occasion of the NATO bombing anniversary, Djurić said that it is our duty to preserve “our legacy, our Kosovo and Metohija” and that we will do it together.
“Together we will cherish that memory of those who gave themselves to the foundations of our present-day lives. They gave their life so we can be here today, in this auditorium”, Djurić said.
He added that we remember the victims of NATO bombing with reverence and that no one will redraw or change our historical memory.
“If we as people at least partially value the sacrifices that were laid for us, I’m sure we will be better and more worthy and that the society we live in will be better and more worthy. We will try to never forget our heroes and especially to never forget the ones who gave their lives, but to also never forget the ones who bravely and heroically defended our country”, Djurić said.
As he said, on March 24, 1999, the doors were opened to many future violations and breaches of international law and individual and collective human rights, but March 24 is the date to which we owe the complete truth in our historical memory.
“March 24 had not broken or killed our spirit. We have gathered here today, 17 years after the aggression against our country began, which was supposed to result in our full prosecution and the complete disappearance of the state of Serbia. We have gathered here to pay tribute and to honor those who have fallen for our country, to say thank you and to remember them in their glory”, Djurić said.
The Academy “Serbia, remember!” held in Kosovska Mitrovica was also attended by Djurić’s associates from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Serbian representatives in Kosovo institutions, representatives of local governments and the University, students, and others.
